The Convict - model designed by Dan Borth - Red Fly Studio
Been a while between updates but have been spurred to quit neglecting my own page (thanks, Joni Rubin) and get back in business here! First up is following up on the launch of our (RAW Studios) Bad Planet Video Game project on Kickstarter My partner Thomas Jane and I have teamed up with Red Fly Studio in Austin TX and are working on something really special here. But we can't do it without your support. Crowd-funding is the way we want to do this. It's the way it must be done if we want to call the shots and bring you the most bitchtastic game experience we can. We just updated with cool video outlining the gameplay, as related by Lead Designer Chris Frechette! Check it out here!
PLEASE hit the links and lend your support!
Now, back in January I got together with my good buddy and RAW partner Thomas Jane, and teamed up with Director Phil Joanou (State Of Grace), Cinematographer Masanobu Takayanagi (The Grey, Warrior), Writer Chad St. John (Motor City), the man hisself, Mistah Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Quest For Fire), and a badass crew of awesome and talented individuals, and shot a badass little short film/fan film called Dirty Laundry. If you haven't seen it yet then by all means, get thee hence to the Youtube page and witness the spectacle. HARD R, so please use discretion - No Children! It's pervasively violent and full of profane language, which makes it a must see provided you are of age and don't have a weak stomach! See Dirty Laundry HERE. Every man jack of us worked for FREE and did this for nothing but the love of it. Tom put us all together to create this love letter to Frank Castle - The Punisher. Hope you diggit.
Tom and I also released our new Graphic Novel, Dark Country earlier this month at the San Diego Comicon. See below for all the details. The hardcover will be available in August/September from a fine retailer near you. Digital version available exclusively at ComiXology.
As for me personally, and that thing I do as my real job, I've been cranking away as regular monthly cover artist for Star Trek, True Blood, and Jericho, for IDW. Clive Barker's Hellraiser for Boom Studios, and did my last turn on covers for Jennifer Blood (Dynamite Comics). I said goodbye to Jennifer but hello to The Shadow! I'll begin regular cover duty on The Shadow this month with issue #8. Looking to create a sweet body of work on that one. Also deserving of special attention is an alternate cover for BEFORE WATCHMEN, featuring THE COMEDIAN. So been real busy here and the deadlines still keep mounting. Here's a peek at my last cover for Jennifer Blood - Issue #19.
In other news, it looks like we (RAW Studios) may have gotten the financing in place to begin work on our latest project, a western film entitled - A Magnificent Death From A Shattered Hand. Directed by my comerade in arms, Thomas Jane, from a terrific script by Tom and Jose Prendes. The film will star Nick Nolte and Thomas Jane and will also feature Jeremy Irons. Raw is producing along with Edward R. Pressman (Conan The Barbarian, Wall Street, The Crow). We'll be filming in Monument Valley Utah, John Ford country, and we're real excited to get underway. I'll also be working as co-production designer. Here's a little teaser image I cooked up for the Cannes Film Festival this year. Enjoy!
Stay tuned for more updates on the Bad Planet Video Game Kickstarter project. Got some HUGE news to unveil after the weekend. You won't want to miss it.
